Value scale, Color wheel

1.I thought the Value scale and color wheel were both interesting to draw they both gave me an interesting technique on drawing art.

2.I enjoyed making the value scale more because it taught me a technique on how to get the correct shading I would like in a piece of art.

3. The most important discovery to me is finding out how much pressure you need to put into the pencil to get the correct shading.

4. The most important information I learned from the videos is that there are primary colors and there are secondary colors turn into intermediate colors.

Colors

1. Different colors can connect with different emotions. Colors in the red area of the spectrum can be considered "warm colors"red, orange, yellow. These colors evoke emotions ranging from warmth and comfort to the feelings of anger and hostility. Colors on the blue side of the spectrum are known as "cool colors"blue, purple, and green,These colors often give calm feelings.

2. What fascinates me most about color is that color is only seen due to the reflection, or absorption of light. This is interesting to me because that means objects have no appearance apart from light.

3. In the color video there was a point where Jane the artist felt that her paintings colors where not fitting to the right emotions. She later on in the video got frustrating and angry at her painting this made be think back to "warm colors". I felt this made the biggest impact because that shows that colors really do give off emotions, and artist use these emotions to create.

4.In the feeling video the biggest impact was made to me when explaining how Giotto the painter and architect intensified the story's of the bible by creating colorful pictures which emotionally identified with people. His paintings became very popular and are still looked upon today.

Video review

1 .Some of the key concepts that I have learned while watching the videos and reading the articles and text are equal Luminance which is when our brain recognizes a color contrast but no light contrast.
Neural Darwinism which is the developing brain adapting to new space time relations as neurons and neural networks complete new information.
Aesthetic  which  is the nature of art and the nature of beauty.

2.  I feel as if Immanuel Kant’s theory on aesthetic in the height of enlightenment is the most important because,  his theory concluded that there is almost nothing that you can’t beautify, the only thing you can’t beautify is the disgusting. I took this as something ugly can be made beautiful,  but something that creates pain can’t. Hearing that I thought of what if someone was to paint a picture of 9/11, it would not be seen as beautiful because of how much pain that day has caused to people around the world.

3.I found Changeux view of aesthetics and art to be interesting. His view was that the developing brain adapts to new space time relations as neurons and neural networks complete new information in a process called neural Darwinism. I find it interesting that the brain may find something aesthetically pleasing due to what we see. I find Ramachandran view with the eight laws of artistic experience and how our pro frontal cortex is linked to what we find aesthetic.

4. The videos and articles relate to the text by giving a deeper meaning into art and why things are aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Kant explains that an artist is not a skilled craftsman, but that nature sets the rules for art. In the text (pg. 26) It explains how during the past several decades there has been a great deal of interest in what called "outside art" art created by self taught artist with little to no art training Kant noted that artist is not a skilled craftsman, but rather nature sets rules for art. The outside artist often lived away from the cultural areas so there inspiration comes from nature.

5. I feel as if the films and the articles gave me a deeper understanding of how and why art is appealing to the eye. It adds depth because you can find connections in the article, video, and text. With scientific explanations, to techniques used to make something look beautiful it altogether shinned a light on the process of making something look aesthetically pleasing.

1. The process of creating a gmail account and a blog account I found to be very simple since being pretty tech. handy already.
2.For this course I expect to be able to get a little more clarity on to why some art pieces were created, and how.
3.This is my first year taking any online coarse and im starting it off with 3 of them but I believe that I will do  well in all of them.
4.In the growth mindset video a few things sticked with me including learning how to push your brain, never giving up, and how sacrifices will pay off in the future.
